The Primitivo grapes are carefully selected from bush-trained vineyards, about 60 years old, cultivated in the heart of the Primitivo di Manduria DOP. The winemaking process is very slow and includes a delicate aging phase in French oak and American barriques for at least 10 months. The <a href=\"http:\/\/varvaglione.com\/en\/papale-linea-oro\/\" target=\"_self\">Papale Linea Oro<\/a> wine, besides being the flagship of the producer Varvaglione Vigne e Vini, also pays tribute to the land where it is born. Its name comes from the area where its Primitivo grapes are grown, \u201cContrada Papale,\u201d which originally belonged to the only Puglian pope to date (Pope Benedict XIII) and is still used to cultivate bush-trained Primitivo di Manduria vineyards. This wine has received numerous awards, including gold medals at the A.W\\.C. Vienna, Berliner Wein Trophy, S\u00e9lections Mondiales des Vins Canada, and C.W\\.S.A.
